Why subscribe?

This is Pascal-Emmanuel Gobry’s Substack. If you don’t already know me, I am a writer, and have written for publications such as The Week, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Atlantic, National Review, First Things, Commentary magazine, and more. What to expect?

For now, 1-3 posts per week on whatever topic interests me.

The name of the Substack, Accelerationist, refers to two different ideas which (to my mind) are interconnected: it refers to acceleration both in the domain of Western democratic politics, where there is an increasing radicalization between an elite camp and (for lack of a better term) a “populist” camp, and it refers to accelerating technological progress, if that is possible, in the wake of the Great Stagnation.

I believe that both types of acceleration are probably, on balance, good, and that you can’t have one without the other.
